Our ethics

We care about the world we live in.  We think it’s a beautiful place and we’ll do our best to keep it that way.

Sourcing our produce

We source our produce as locally as possible. This sometimes limits our range but we think it’s important to offer a range of produce that is sustainable and traceable. We are certified organic and we want Wholegood customers to enjoy our products knowing they’ve been sustainably produced and responsibly transported.

Energy

Around 50% of the energy consumed by Wholegood is produced by solar power from panels on our warehouse roof. We have solar panels covering an area of 25,000 square foot generating electricity and returning surplus energy to the national grid. The other 50% of our energy is sourced in the UK from Hydo power, wind farms and solar sourced from a small broker dedicated to renewables.

Packaging and waste

We recycle all our general waste, we bale our cardboard and plastic so it can be transported as efficiently as possible and recycled. We are proud to be a zero to landfill company.

Organic produce that can’t be given away is composted on site. We create strong fertiliser from our fruit and vegetable waste and give it away to local people and staff for use in their gardens. This process extracts most of the moisture from our fresh produce and reduces its volume by almost 90% therefore reducing the need to have it collected and disposed of by industrial composting companies. Which in turn lowers the C02 by reducing collections.
